Sun, Seas and Ceremonies

What have I been up to this weekend? I spent an unseasonably warm Sunday afternoon at a 60th birthday garden party in the seaside town of Poulton Le Fylde near Blackpool. I nearly didn't make it since my van had a burst steering pump and my other smaller car decided to flash it's engine warning light and make funny noises. However, after a quick look from my mechanic and next door neighbour (Maxted's Garage, highly recommended) I got on the road and made it. The party was a surprise so I arrived a little after the guests jumped out on the birthday boy to do 2 x 45 minute live sets while guests mingled. It was a very relaxed affair, that is until 2 songs before the end of my final set when everyone got on the decking and began dancing. Once again a laid back celebration turns into a raucous affair. I seem to have this effect on people...

So I'm home now and ironing my best tucker for the North of England Wedding Awards tomorrow night, 19th August, at York Racecourse. As well as providing entertainment during the gala dinner I am also a finalist in the best music category for Yorkshire. I'm both very nervous and very excited. Wishing all the best to everyone involved. I'm up against some superb suppliers so who knows what the outcome will be.
